About This Course

The course covers the structure and construction of compilers. It treats lexical analysis, context-free grammars and parsing techniques, syntax-directed translation, semantic analysis and symbol tables, intermediate representations, runtime storage organisation, code generation and register allocation, machine-independent and machine-dependent optimisation, and the use of compiler construction tools. Learning outcomes: Construct lexical and syntactic analysers for a defined source language. Generate intermediate and target code from an annotated syntax tree.
